Today is an odd day. It's raining torrentially in Miami, my local two grandsons are with their parents in Georgia enjoying themselves and it is the anniversary of the bombing of Nagasaki, Japan. One A-bomb was not enough, apparently; the Japanese military had to be convinced - so there were more lives lost. The war ( WW II ) was basically over! Today the Catholic church memorializes a women, Edith Stein who born jewish, converted and became a nun. Unfortunately the Nazi in Holland were pissed at the Catholic Bishops published opinions concerning their treatment of the Jews and arrested even those converts from Judaism. On this day in 1942, Sister Teresa was gassed with her natural sister.
What kind of guts does it take to kill for your beliefs or to die for them? Protect us, God, from facing such options. I have successfully prayed for that protection for my own children and now I will continue for my grand children.
I'm a retiree, who is amazed with what is available on the internet. As a Roman Catholic, retired lawyer, and busy Grandpa, who is married to a wonderful women afflicted with "wander lust" - I'm in a great place to learn, laugh and listen to other opinions and argue. I just wonder what else God has in store for me. Anybody know?

Well your Prayers were not answered, I'm coming back!

Grandchildren - Still GREAT!
Lynn and I took three of them ( Ava in pink, Patrick in Red tee shirt, and Greggy in Blue tee shirt ) on a short vacation trip to an Amish farm in Pennsylvania and to Hershey and finally to Baltimore's Inner Harbor . Love those kids but their basic quality is still being bottomless pits of energy consuming material which I am unable to filled or to which I can't even successfully contribute in any meaningful way. God bless Grandma. More tomorrow, just remembering the vacation week with the "Grands" has encouraged me to go and take a nap. God bless, Tom
